Men Of Note are a four-part harmony male voice choir. It began in 1999 with seventeen voices and now boast some 35 plus members. The group has assembled a pleasing balance of tenor, baritone and rich, resonant bass voices that together create an almost perfect blend of sweet harmonious sound. The group believe that their selections of music will appeal to most everyone, a mix of favourite and familiar melodies for spirituals, sacred anthems, folk and traditional songs, tunes from the musical stage and sometimes, a love ballad from the hit parade.
The idea of a men's choir originated during a high-school band trip in Ireland. The band conductor, a chaperone, and the tour bus driver (who sang in a Welsh Male Voice Choir) were discussing the ins and outs about men's choirs touring in various countries. As they discussed the concept in an Irish pub in Dublin, an idea was born.
The band returned back to Canada, and word went out in the Stouffville community that a Male Voice choir was being put together. The Men of Note Male Voice Choir came together in 1999 with just 17 originals, many of whom still sing in the choir.
Since the choir was conceived with touring in mind, it was natural that the choir toured as well as perform locally. To date, the choir has been to England, France, Wales, the Canadian Maritimes, Germany, and, of course, it's point of conception - Ireland. The next trip is planned for Scotland in the summer of 2018.
