A unique, tuition-free after school program that offers professional choral training, voice and piano lessons, leadership development, and mentoring to children ages 8 through high school. Our choristers have sung throughout the region and have appeared in concert with Kristin Chenoweth and "The Chieftains" at Bergen Performing Arts Center, and have recorded tracks for an upcoming HBO film. All children in the program come from Englewood and surrounding towns, representing a wide range of cultural communities, and from all faith traditions.
Our History
St Paul’s Choir School is based on our belief that all children are able to sing, given encouragement and instruction. We offer free music education and performance opportunities for girls and boys, kindergarten through high school. We are a unique after-school program that offers professional choral training, voice and piano lessons, leadership development, academic tutoring, and mentoring to children and teenagers. Our students come from Englewood and surrounding towns, representing a wide range of cultural communities, and from all faith traditions.
Choirs help build community, foster good relationships, and give children a sense of pride and accomplishment.
In Champions of Change: The Impact of the Arts on Learning, the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities discovered that: “When well taught, the arts provide young people with authentic learning experience that engage their minds, hearts and bodies. Engagement in the arts…nurtures the development of cognitive, social, and personal competencies.”
For these reasons, children who are trained in music and the other arts tend to do better in math and science.
