Greendale Chorale was formed in 2006 with the inception of the school. In these few years, the young all-girls choir has grown from strength to strength. Since June 2009, under the direction of their conductor, Mr Darius Lim, the choir has garnered numerous accolades and awards to their name. In 2010 the choir won the Gold Award at the 3rd Orientale Concentus International Choral Competition in Yilan, Taiwan. The choir was also Category Winner and was one of four choirs to be invited to compete in the grand finals. In 2011 the choir attained their first Silver award at the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging of Choirs. In the same year, they came in 2nd at the National A Capella Championships. They also took part in the 2nd Winter Choral Festival in Hong Kong and obtained a Silver VI, and was placed top of the category, “Equal Voices, 16 years and below”. The crowning achievement of the choir came in 2013, when they took part in the revamped Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation – Choir and obtained Certificate of Distinction, the highest honour. In 2013, Mr Lim departed to further his studies, and today, the choristers are working with Mr Raymond Lee. Greendale Chorale has also collaborated with numerous national ensembles such as the Singapore Police Force Band and Choir and the Singapore Armed Forces Band. They have performed at major concert venues including the Esplanade Concert Hall, School of the Arts Concert Hall and Victoria Concert Hall - both alone and also together with larger choruses. The focus of the choir is to achieve all-rounded choristers – both at work and play. The constant emphasis on developing good leadership, character and self-confidence in every chorister has been the root culture of the choir.
