Lake Washington Singers is a dynamic, non-audition women’s choir that performs a wide variety of musical styles. We have a strong sense of community and friendship in our group. This is achieved through participation in our community “mini-concerts” (approximately 5 per season) and in helping with various tasks needed for our Spring Dinner Concerts, which are our big fundraising events. Please see our Rehearsals page for information on dues and when our seasons run.
Our History
Lake Washington Singers have been spreading the joy of music since 1952!
Lake Washington Singers Circa 1970
Originally called the Lake Washington Choral Society and started by a group from the Eastside chapter of the American Association of University Women, this group has strength in its roots to its past while also stretching towards the future.
Through the decades, this dynamic, non-secular, welcoming group has provided an opportunity for women of all ages, beliefs and working situations, to perform a variety of music and to further the proficiency of their choral skills. This group has performed in a variety of venues: Christmas Ships, State Legislature in Olympia, Leavenworth & Kirkland Tree Lighting Festival, filmed for a television show called “Choir Practice”, Crossroads Mall, Kirkland Farmers Market, various retirement facilities, singing tour of the British Isles, participants in Barcelona international singing festival.
We are a group that believes working together to create great music, can also create a great community. When we perform, we share the breadth of our community with each other and with those who attend our performances.
